On the bandstand the bandsmen are playing our song
and we waltz as we’ve waltzed fifty years.
They may say that it’s wrong, but it’s where we belong,
as I hold you and hold back my tears.
I remember the day we first met in the park,
where we waltzed as the band played this tune.
How we sashayed and swayed all the way until dark,
when we left by the light of the moon.
How our love has grown fast as the years have flown past,
and together we’ve weathered them through.
Ah but now the die’s cast, and this waltz is my last,
and I’m leaving our waltzes to you.
