The Genome Meets Its Maker

“The absurd is born of this confrontation between the human need and the unreasonable silence of the world.” -Albert Camus

The father of humanity is forceful,
infusing us with iron-fisted verve
to strive beyond the stars and never swerve.

Our mother is a mistress of decorum
who tempers passion with inherent grace
to those evolving at a slower pace.

But children of the cosmos are impatient
and radical. Like marbles from a bowl,
there’s utter chaos in the way we roll.

Absurdity’s the prime genetic marker
that separates our species from the pack
and obviates the dignity we lack.
