Example Poem
Missiles Launched
The hawks of war are given cause
by rogue depots exporting hate.
Their missiles met now with applause
from hating killers may tempt fate.
Unsheathe  the swords of war.

Let power fall to terrorist
Organs of any stripe, then know
that peaceful folks will not resist
what will most surely be the flow.
Unsheathe  the swords of war.

Israel has restrained and we
at cabinet levels have been mute,
regarding retaliatory
actions. But at some time we’ll shoot.
Unsheathe  the swords of war.

5/3 Meter Poetry form

A poem consisting of an odd number of quatrains (15 lines or more)
I have no idea if this form has been otherwise named, if you know please advise.
Alternating lines of 5 and 3 syllables, where
the odd lines consist of  an IAMB and an ANAPEST
da-DUM da-DUM-da
and the even lines consist of a DACTYL
DUM-da-DUM

Each stanza uses individual rhyme pattern –abab
where the b-rhymes are always feminine rhyme

The first stanza is a refrain, repeated as the final stanza.

Example poem:

Paradise Kept   (5 3 Meter)

Such colors are not
accidents
so birds then forgot
abstinence.

Their evolution
manifest
a bright solution
was the best. When foes are but few
we evolve
with different view,
with resolve.

Most survive with ease
but compete
to awe and appease–
the elite.

They sung and they played
and they danced
their colors arrayed
to enhance.

Let man not destroy
thru his greed
the habitat of joy
where.they breed.

Such colors are not
accidents
so birds then forgot
abstinence.

Constanza

The Constanza, created by Connie Marcum Wong, consists of five or more 3-line stanzas.
Each line has a set meter of eight syllables.
The first lines of all the stanzas can be read successively as an independent poem,
with the rest of the poem weaved in to express a deeper meaning.
The first lines convey a theme written in monorhyme,
while the second and third lines of each stanza rhyme together.
Rhyme scheme: abb acc add aee aff… (abbaccaddaeeaff…)
Isosyllabic: 8 syllables

The Desert

To venture forth in desert lands
Most city folk would likely shun
but wonders grow beneath that sun.
To trek with cheer on arid sands
requires a sense of how  things fit,
for God has made an art of it.
To ramble where the cactus stands
and know that life support is found
for man if he should walk this ground
and pick their fruits with your own hands
gives one respect for synergy
which can’t be random, seems to me.
This joy a cowboy understands.
The hospitality exists
most everywhere, and life persists.

Swinburne Quintet

I have never seen this formally named anywhere,  but was made famous
by Algerrnon  Swinburnes’  “The Palace of Pan”, and recently popularized by several  works of Eusebius on Allpoetry.com.
I am simply giving it the name so that it may be referenced conveniently.   If this usurps a form of which I am unaware please notify and chastise me quickly.
It is a metrical stanzaic form identified by
Quintets, no minimum specified but clearly meant for longer poems  given
the  first stanza is repeated as the closing refrain.
Each stanza as the syllable form 11/8/11/11/8
with the (independent) rhyme pattern: abaab
Metric requirement:
All lines are amphibraic with an ending iamb.

Example Poem
Mathematical Assumptions     (Swinburne quintet)
Discoveries brought the theories turned into law
The knowledge base was growing fast.
The Laws helped explain behavior that we saw.
Then Hubble’s was crowned although it had a flaw.
It now fails and thus cannot last.
Yes, Edwin had doubts, but they arrived too late.
The Big Bang advocates made hay.
The red-shift allowed math to now calculate
amazing things, like perhaps Big Bang’s birth date.
Why let such a plum get away?
All parts of Big Bang were ideation borne.
They have to be.  We were not there.
An advanced math model was most fully born,
already tweaked so much some folks felt forlorn.
Dark things needed came from nowhere.
Math models in particle physics have shone
predicting fermions, et. al.
But out of this true success, hubris has grown
until some have come to trust in math alone.
G. I. G. O.*  now seems the call.
Assuming a Big Bang to initiate
their model is now in conflict
with observations scientists can debate-
a notion leaders cannot appreciate.
Our generation has been tricked.
Discoveries brought theories turned into law
The knowledge base was growing fast.
The Laws helped explain behavior that we saw.
Then Hubble’s was crowned although it had a flaw.
It now fails and thus cannot last.

Entwined Form
This is a form invented by Mary Lou Healy, aka Mlou on Allpoetry.com
The form consists of three or more trimeter quintets, usually in Iambic where the 3rd line of each stanza rhymes with the first line of the following stanza, until the final stanza which rhymes with the first line of the poem.
Rhyme pattern: abcba cdedc efafe
Example Poem
Growth in Scansion
If I can ever learn
well then I’ll try to teach.
But just today I find
my wants exceed my reach,
and yet for more I yearn.
Old knowledge falls behind,
but learning it was key
for now I understand
those things I could not see-
no syllables defined.
The first two stanzas scan
as iambs every one.
an ananapest is wide.
It looks not right when done
in syllables, here man.
Trimeter’s satisfied.
Shoes don’t swap but feet do.
For syllables dactyls have three
and iambs have but two.
Three feet per line I’ve tried.
A template let’s you see
and can be used intact,
learning feet lets you spurn
just counting, that’s a fact-
a skill eluding me.
